Animation, 15:00, 2015
Animation made from three Dutch oil maritime paintings from the 17th Century. The work was made for an exhibition at Manchester Art Gallery responding to their collection of Dutch seascapes. The full work is 15 minutes long. The work seeks to bring the focus back to the sea that is just a backdrop in the original paintings which favour the military and economic power of the Dutch republic. Here the action is almost completely removed, and all is left is the impassive sea and its constant rolling.
