I have recently completed and installed a new body of work commissioned by North Lincolnshire Museum in Scunthorpe for their joined exhibitions exploring maps, inspired by the work of William Smith – known as the father of geology. The exhibitions are currently available to view online through the museums 3D tour. Colours Beneath our Feet is an exhibition featuring an impressive copy of William Smith that has been touring the country since 2015 to mark the 200th anniversary of the map. Alongside this, the museum has also organised the exhibition On the Map, which explores the broader stories behind maps. My commissioned work acts as a bridge between the two exhibitions and includes drawing and video.
You can read more about my response in here. You can visit the exhibitions and the whole museum online in their virtual 3D tour here.
I will be giving a talk on my work on the 28th July. more details coming soon.
