Drawing and Digital print, 2021
A work consisting of two pieces which can be considered independently or in relation to each other.
Barrier (Negative Drawing) is a drawing based on Caspar David Friedrich’s painting The Sea of Ice (1824). Although recognising the reference is not essential, it brings new layers of meaning to the work. The drawing is made using a wash of soft White Jet powder and graphite.
Barrier (Positive Print) is an inverted and enlarged digital print from the same drawing, produced in high gloss photographic paper.
