I will be discussing my exhibition Uncalibrated at Sunny Bank Mills Gallery with the curator Courtney Spencer. During this artist’s talk, you will learn more about the research, process and impetus behind the exhibition.

About Me

Hondartza Fraga (b. 1982 in A Coruña, Spain) is an artist who lives and works in Leeds. She graduated in Fine Art at The University of the Basque Country (Spain) in 2005 and completed an MA Fine Art Practice at Sheffield Hallam University in 2007.

Currently, Hondartza is a PhD Practice-led at the School of Design, University of Leeds, with an award from the White Rose College of the Arts and Humanities. Fraga’s work is represented by Espacio Alexandra (Spain) and The Art Court (UK). Fraga’s drawing work was featured in Phaidon’s Vitamin D3: Today’s Best Contemporary Drawing.

About Courtney

Courtney Spencer (b. 1980 Sydney, Australia) is an artist, curator and collaborator who has been based in Yorkshire since 2005. She was the director of an arts venue in Leeds for five years, began the Leeds Summer Group Show in 2015 and is the founder of The Art Court which works to support artists and collectors in the North of England.

She has worked with organisations including National Trust; The Mercer Art Gallery, Harrogate; S1 Artspace, Sheffield; Leeds Museums & Galleries; Leeds Playhouse; and The Old Parcels Office, Scarborough. She writes a monthly column for The State Of The Arts called Snooping Through Studios which features artists connected to the North of England.

Uncalibrated is curated by Courtney Spencer & supported by the University of Leeds, The Art Court, Leeds Inspired, White Rose College of the Arts & Humanities and UKRI Arts and Humanities Research Council.

The exhibition is on show at Sunny Bank Mills Gallery 8th – 30th July. The Gallery is open 10am – 4pm Tuesdays to Saturdays & 12pm – 4pm on Sundays.
