Holding the Middle – Residency at Everybody Arts

Part open studio and part exhibition, Holding the Middle brings together a large body of mostly unseen works developed over the past three years. Emerging after the completion of my PhD, the residency responds to a growing need to see different strands of work together for the first time, not simply physically, but as a way of reflecting on possible connections between them. The project occupies an in-between state: neither a conventional exhibition nor simply an open studio, but a space for testing, reconfiguring and public encounter.

The residency includes drawings, video, installation, working materials and unresolved pieces spanning different areas of my practice, including recent works with Whitby jet, abstract drawings, portraits of my daughter, cyanotypes using hair and the ongoing Advent series. Rather than presenting resolved outcomes, the emphasis is on what remains in flux and on how works might shift once placed in dialogue with one another and with visitors.

Dates & Opening Times

26th May – 13th June

Wednesday–Friday 1–4pm  | Saturdays 30 May and 13 June 1–4pm (Other times possible by appointment with me)

Closing event Weds 10 June, 6–8pm

To coincide with the residency, I have also released a new limited-edition series titled Percebes, available directly through me. The works are graphite intaglio frottages on Yupo, produced through rubbing from an original drawing manually incised into a plate, resulting in impressions that shift subtly from one another. The title refers to goose barnacles found on the exposed rocks of the Galician coast, where I am from.
